Do I look drunk?

If you could have seen me last week after spending 20 non-stop glorious hours with Trey, you may have thought I looked drunk!  Late night underwater! swimming, early morning at McDonald's, endless hours playing on the floor! at the hospital, topped off by Trey "sharing" my salad (eaten with his fingers!)  Yes, I looked drunk!  But that's not what I am referring to here....

In I Samuel 1 Hannah is praying so hard, pouring out her heart to God, the priest thought she looked drunk!  Hannah wasn't just going through the motions, Hannah was p-r-a-y-i-n-g!!!
"In her deep anguish"
"weeping bitterly."
"she made a vow"
"Hannah was praying in her heart"
“I am a woman who is deeply troubled."
"I was pouring out my soul to the Lord."
"I have been praying here out of my great anguish"

Let's pray for Trey like that this week!  :)
For Trey's continued AMAZING health!
For Trey to be healed from cancer!
For Jay and Rachel to receive wisdom and discernment concerning the latest treatment option for Trey!
For Joe and Bella to know God's peace!

“Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of Him.”  I Samuel 1:17

Does this count?

Whether we are talking about calories or dollars or minutes, we always seem to be counting something...and wondering if what we counted has worth.
When you measure food on a diet, is a cup of popcorn the amount that you can cram into the measuring cup, balancing the overflow as long as it doesn't fall out?  Or does it have to fit beneath the cup line!?!
In this day and age of credit cards and debit cards and PayPal and online banking, who balances a checkbook anymore?!?
And who doesn't live by the "ish" factor?!?  I'll be there at 10ish...
Ah, boundaries and limits and margins.  Not the American way anymore.  Yet it is!
Calories do count.
Money does matters.
And time flies - whether you are having fun or not!  :)
Once again, (and of course, it IS Trey Tuesday!), we turn to Trey and God's Word!  :)
Yes, Trey maximizes his life!  :)  Living outloud and clear!  :)
And yes, God wants us to live this life on purpose, not just getting by.  "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."  John 10:10
I am honored and blessed to get to see Trey tomorrow as he travels to my area to be seen at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia!  :)  I plan on making every moment "count!"  Yes, there may be traffic and weather (!) and schedules and money and people that may try to interfere with my time with Trey, but Jesus has given us this time, this life - and we plan on having it to the full!  :)
Will you please pray for our time together?  For their travel here.  For Trey in the car.  And in the rest stop.  And in the hotel.  And in the hospital  And in the car again!  :)

And of course for his time with the doctor - that the past, the present and the future will be made very clear by God so Jay and Rachel can make decisions about clinical trials.

"I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me"  Philippians 3:12

What's Your Story?

I read this saying by Priscilla Shirer this week and it knocked me off my feet:
When God speaks, when He intervenes, when He permits a circumstance to rise up around you, it is your opportunity to write a story that people may still be talking about many years from now. Your life is God's story being told and His character being displayed.

Think about the familiar Bible stories from Sunday School:
Do you think Noah was planning on having movies made about him while he tended to the huge task of building an ark?
What about David out in the fields with the sheep? Wondering if there would be a Veggie Tales about him?
What about Mary on her donkey? What was her focus? Two thousand years from then, toddler girls in blue gowns at Nativity scenes, ceramic and wooden images of her adorning everyone's homes at Christmas time? I think not. "She pondered these things in her heart." Luke 2:19

What about you? What kind of life are you living today? What is your focus? What is your story?
Trey certainly has the focus for today thing down pat! He's not worried about tomorrow or next week or treatments or clinical trials or even what anybody thinks about him! He focuses on his parents and his family, blueberries, broccoli and a few TV shows! That's it! Yet God CERTAINLY is using Trey's opportunity for hundreds/thousands of people to read God's story in living color!

Jay writes this week's prayer request: Trey's oncologist said that there may be a trial treatment available for Trey here in Pittsburgh that could be available as early as this week. I do know this. Your prayers have been as important to Trey’s condition, if not more so, than any medicine or treatment he has received. Thank you so much.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is My word that goes out from My mouth:
It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:9-11

What Do You Remember?

Well, Super Bowl commercials have come and gone for another year.
Not counting the movie trailers and TV spots, there were over 50 commercials which aired!
Remember them all? Remember who the advertisers were or do you just remember the images?

God commands His people to remember:
"Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them." Deuteronomy 4:9

The Olympics start this week! I am sure these athletes will remember the lifetime of instruction and advice they have been received! They will remember the gold medal winners who have gone before them! They will remember their coaches' promises of rewards for dedication and devotion.

Trey is our Super Bowl/Olympian! Yes, like the Super Bowl ads, he is sweet and funny and clever and worth a lot of money! And yes, like the Olympians, he is a fighter, a competitor, our Gold Medal winner!

This Trey Tuesday, let's carry a torch of thanks and praise, acknowledging the miraculous victories Trey has won! Let's honor God for all that He has done in Trey's life! And yes! Please keep praying for MORE great health and life and faith and fun and peace and joy for the Mitlos!

To God be the glory, great things HE has done!
"I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago.
I will consider all Your works and meditate on all Your mighty deeds." Psalm 77:11,12
