Can’t Catch Me!

A dear neighbor pointed out this week that you can’t capture the beautiful dance of lightning bugs in a regular photograph.  Their tiny lights in the vast darkness just have to be admired with our eyes.

I experienced the same phenomenon yesterday while I was feeding my grandson a bottle.  I held him with one hand and I held the bottle with the other hand....And then his two sweet little hands grasped onto my fingers. Where was my phone!? How could I capture this precious moment?  I couldn't!  With no one else around, God reminded me to capture His gift in my heart and treasure it without a photo.

It might be roller coaster thrills or sweet strawberry aromas....or it may be something much bigger.....deep pain, intense fear, or endless anxiety....we just can't comprehend them with our human minds.  But please know that God's presence and provision surround you.  You cannot see them.  You cannot hear them.  But we can savor them.  Cling to Him.  Count on Him.

"No eye has seen,No ear has heard,No human mind has conceived”  —the things God has prepared for those who love Him—"  I Corinthians 2:9

Caught Off Guard

I was soooooo excited for Father's Day this year!  My daughter and her husband just had a baby, so this was a first Father's Day for my son-in law!  And it was also a special day for my husband, the new Pop Pop!  Dinner plans and gifts and cards were all in place.  Until.....

A woman at church on Sunday morning asked me if I was going to see my Dad for Father's Day.  My world stopped spinning for a minute.  MY dad?  I was so excited for my husband and son-in-law, I didn't have a place in my mind for not seeing my dad for Father's Day!!!  You see, my dad passed away 2 years ago.  After a quick moment of awkward silence, my well wisher offered sweet condolences for my loss.  In my heart I then took a precious stolen moment of savoring sweet memories of my dad and honoring his fun and wacky ways!

Jay asked me a question today about a Trey memory.  It was breathtaking at first to receive a text with Trey's name in it....but then it was a sweet walk down Memory Lane!  Don't be afraid to mention the name of a loved ones who has passed away.  Ask a question.  Share a memory.  You are blessing those who grieve with the love of Jesus.

"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."  Galatians 6:2

Team Mitlo One

We've all had some very emotion-filled days lately:  celebration, trauma, grief, anticipation, fear, relief, anxiety, desperation, and much much more!

Throughout Trey's life and death and strong days and weak days and silly days and sick days and sad days and sweet days, God's presence and provision have been displayed through the love and support of Team Mitlo One family and friends.

Who is your "Team"?  Who loves and supports you in your journey?

Team Mitlo One was created to unite the support of Trey and his family in love, prayer, and encouragement  How can you join - or create - a Team near you to love, pray for, and encourage someone with the love of Jesus this week?

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."  Romans 15:5,6

Resolutions

How are you doing on your New Year's Resolutions?  Do you even remember what they are?

Some people chose a word for the year.....Mine this year is steadfast:  resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.  My instinct is to to try harder at being steadfast.  Focus better.  Worry about it more.  But being steadfast in seeking God is not achieved that way.  And trying harder is not how to receive a better prayer life, more trust, better health, deeper faith, genuine kindness, safer children, unconditional love and compassion, or greater peace and joy.  It's not about us......We need to ask Jesus how we can reach our goals:

How do Jay and Rachel and Joe and Bella live each day without Trey?
"Jesus answered, 'I am the Way", John 14:6

How can I love my neighbor better?
"Jesus answered, 'I am the Way", John 14:6

How can I find a better job?
"Jesus answered, 'I am the Way", John 14:6
How can I make my house sell faster?
"Jesus answered, 'I am the Way", John 14:6
How can I ____________?
Go ahead - fill in the blank with your goals, your aspirations and your hopes:
"Jesus answered, 'I am the Way", John 14:6
