Gold Medal Winners!

The Olympics are over, the athletes can now rest.  They have fought their fights.
They have finished their races.

This past week, Billy Graham finished his race.  He can now rest with Jesus.  And with Trey.  And Poppi.   And Alice.  And Allan.  And Richard.  And Clarence.   And Joe.  And Helen.  And Jim and Patty.  And Bill and Nancy.  And Susan.  And Kathleen.  And Molly.  And Ellen.  And teeny tiny babies.  And many, many others!  :)

It brings me comfort and joy to imagine my loved ones together in the presence of Jesus!  Let's continue to paint the image of this joyful family reunion!

Who is your Gold Medal Winner now resting with Jesus?

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing."  2 Timothy 4:7,8

No Gold Medal...Yet!

Millions of athletes all over the world are striving to win a gold medal.  Children (and/or their parents) begin training at very young ages and invest a lot of time, money, and energy to follow the path to the Olympic podium.

Most of us, though, are not Olympic athletes.  Not even close.

However, we all invest a lot of time, money, and energy in other things:  family, friends, neighbors, work, fashion, rest, play, yard work, screens, exercise, financials, decor, humor, etc....everything temporary....everything except eternity!

How much time do you invest each day considering eternity?  Striving to follow Jesus?  Seek God?  Listen to Him?  Consider life and time beyond right now?

We will not receive gold medals this side of heaven....but the gold in heaven is  definitely worth the wait!  :)

"Train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come"  I Timothy 4:7,8

Out of Control!

I was praying for our adult children the other day and I was reminding myself that their lives are out of my control now.  And then I was thinking about friends of mine who just had a baby.  "Wow!" I thought, "They can't control their child either!"
Aaaaaaand then I thought about myself...yep...I am out of my control!

This winter we have learned that we can't control (or predict!) weather.  Time marches on, ready or not!  And you only need to watch the news - or gas prices - for a minute to learn that we can't control the value of money.

Long ago, I memorized Psalm 46:10:  "Be still, and know that the Lord is God."
Here is Psalm 46:10 in another version of the Bible:  “Cease striving and know that the Lord is God".
I'll forever be striving to live out that verse.

Luke 6:31

"Do to others as you would have them do to you."
Yes!  It's true!  This Pittsburgh-born-and-raised girl donned a green and black jersey on Sunday to cheer on her now hometown Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl win!  :)
Why would a Steeler girl go Green!?  Because I love BOTH of my hometowns!  And I want to join with them in their hopes and dreams, battles and VICTORIES!  :)
Just like Team Mitlo One.  Many, many of you supported Jay and Rachel and the kids in Trey's battle.  You jumped in and joined the team, loving in word, in deed, in meals, in cards, in hugs, in prayer!  And even now, the wristbands and t-shirts are evidence of continued overflowing love!

Overflowing love and acceptance:  Isn't that what we all want?

"Do to others as you would have them do to you."  Luke 6:31
