Piping Hot French Fries

That's mine - what's yours?  What is your unexpected pleasure?  You know, that simple little something that unexpectedly brings a smile to your face and makes you say, "Wow!"?

Are you a sunset person?  Or a close parking spot person?  Does a great coupon make you smile?  Or does staying awake for the beginning AND the end of a movie give you a feeling of accomplishment?  What about a pair of matching socks?!?  :)

There is a lot of stuff going on in our world - both globally and personally.  There are a lot of hurting people everywhere we go.  Trey always left a trail of smiles and giggles wherever he went.  He laughed.  He smiled.  He talked.  He shared.  Trey and his new found friend both walked away feeling a little better!  :)

So, go ahead.  Chase down some joy this week.  Notice an unexpected pleasure.  Capture a moment.  Eat dessert first! :)

Everything!

"Do everything in love."  I Corinthians 16:14

Allow me to help you unpack this Scripture a little bit.  I'm not well versed in Greek or Hebrew, but I think I can do it some justice:

Do everything - this means all that we do!  :)

Love - appreciation, allegiance, kindness, respect, tenderness, fondness, charity, devoted, care for, adore, include, tolerate, accept, like, enjoy, relish, sacrifice.....

Taste Testing

There's nothing like a family trip to Costco/Sam's Club when the sample servers are out.  It's like a buffet while you shop!  :)  A nibble of pizza, a sip of yogurt smoothie, a scoop of mac and cheese, all rounded out with a micro cup of coffee and one fourth of a cookie!  :)  Not too much to push you over the edge, or ruin your dinner, but juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust enough to make you slow down as you pass the endcaps.  The marketing industry knows how to leave you asking for more.

God encourages the Costco/Sam's Club method:
"Taste and see that the Lord is good."  Psalm 34:8
You don't have to "buy" the wholesale sized package of God at first.....just take a taste.  Listen to a sermon.  Read a verse of the Bible.  Ask the question you always wondered.  Sing along with that childhood song.  You will soon learn that God IS good!  You will realize how much He loves you!  You will experience a life filled to overflowing!

Trey often sampled from the frig while the door hung open for a looooooooooooong time!  :)  He wanted to weigh all his options, choose carefully among his favorites, and then invest in what he knew was good.  God wants the same for you.  Go ahead, "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him."  Psalm 34:8

Happy? New Year

I think I've said it over one hundred times already this year:  Happy New Year

Have you ever stopped to think about what we are really saying?  "Gee, I hope everything goes your way this year and the whole world, your family, your coworkers, the drive through coffee people, and the new president all keep you happy this year?!?!!?"  Wow!  I don't think that is a plausible greeting!  It's probably not very appropriate either!  :)

How about, "Joyous New Year?"

May this year find your heart filled with joy, despite your circumstances.

May you choose joy instead of gut reactions.

May Jesus give you His joy as you shine His Light and Power in your life at work.

May you find joy as you let God be the decision maker in your home.

May the love and joy of generosity overwhelm your unbalanced finances.

And may you experience joy as you lean on the Rock Solid Truths of God's Word.
