A Friend Knows

A raised eyebrow, a fist bump, or a favorite emoji - without words much can be communicated between good friends.  Try and send your boss or distant relative the same kind of text you send your close friend - it just doesn't work well....

Here's another list:  Butter dance, Young Warrior, and Trey Tuesday - familiar terms because of the time we spend together in prayer.  I just met a friend of Team Mitlo One on Sunday!  :)  We hugged and chatted as friends because of the journey we have traveled together on behalf of Trey.  Through good times and bad, a relationship deepens and grows over time.  There are no shortcuts.

How is your walk with God?  Are you so familiar with Him that you notice His gesture, His  inspiration, the work of His Hand?  Do you spend time with Him?  Can you hear His voice?  Do you know what He is thinking before you even read His Word?  Do you have hurt feelings when someone doesn't speak kindly of Him?  Friends spend time together, and then joys and sorrows are more easily shared.  Jesus is ready and waiting.....

"there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."  Proverbs 18:24

Na-Na-Na-Na-Na!

You can't catch me!  Can you hear it!?  Can you hear the playground taunting!?
Oh, does that sing-songy chant bring back the memories of countless games of Tag!  Or Hide and Seek!

Adult life isn't that much fun.  We battle the taunts and jeers of enemies and thieves trying to steal our joy, our peace, our patience, and our goals.  Sometimes we just want to hang out safely on base!  :)

The other night I couldn't sleep.  I couldn't stop thinking and worrying and worrying and thinking.  I'm a worrier.  And a thinker.  Bad combination at 2:00a.m.  I finally cried out to God,  "Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe." Psalm 31:2  I wanted to crawl up under God's Mighty protection!  And then....I remembered Trey....I imagined him nestled in the nooks and crannies of God's protection, like a HUGE game of Hide and Seek.  Despite the chaos in and around him, Trey was hidden safely in God's rock solid arms.  "But the LORD is my fortress; my God is the mighty rock where I hide."  Psalm 94:22

As you settle in to bed tonight, or face the day tomorrow, I'll be praying for you:  "God, be my friend's rock of safety where he/she can always hide."
from Psalm 71:3

Same Difference

Fat chance.  No chance.  Slim chance.
They all mean the same thing!?!?!?  Yes, a play on words, but also, sometimes opposites get along.

To "bite your tongue" should mean that you're quiet...unless you...bite your tongue - Ouch!  To "be in the clear" is a relief....orrrrr it leaves you feeling vulnerable!  Trey was such a happy little boy....until he wasn't quite so happy!  :)

Life is filled with idioms and idiosyncrasies, uncertainties and quick changes.
God, however, is not.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."  Hebrews 13:8

You can count on it!  :)

Easter Spoiler Alert

Here we are, just one week in to Lent, a time of reflection and repentance.  We focus on the sacrificial life and death of Jesus, which redeems our sinful lives.  But does that mean we have to walk around in a cloud of darkness for 40 days?  Or can we already celebrate Easter - the new life and hope that Jesus provides?

Joy!  Unspeakable joy!  Great joy!  Jesus died so that we may live...today!  :)

There are lots of tragedies and heart aches and trials all around us.  This life can be very messy and hard sometimes.  But there are also a lot of small nuisances and hiccups that get in our way.  They distract us.  Annoy us.  Confuse our focus.

Trey lived a life of joy.  Focused joy.  He never knew he had cancer.  He never knew he was sick.  He never knew how heart broken his loved ones were every time he had to go for treatments or procedures.  He just loved his family and friends.

Where is your focus?  On our Redeemer Who has already defeated the enemy?  On our Savior Who forgives and forgets our sins and faults?  On our Heavenly Father Who loves you so very much?  On our Joy giving Lord and Savior?

"The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy"  Matthew 28:8
