A wedding song?

I Corinthians 13 brings to mind beautiful scenes from romantic weddings.  Tender memories.  Emotional words and promises.
But let's get out a magnifying glass and take a closer look at the passage we hear so often.  You know, the Love is patient, love is kind verse...?
Let's back up to I Corinthians 12.  God has not spelled this love verse out so the editors of Brides magazine could corner the market on mushy sayings for weddings.  God has MUCH more in mind than only expecting this kind of love out of husbands and wives.
What we are actually reading is God's message to the church, the body of Christ, the universal body of believers.
Shall I spell that out for you?  That's us!  :)  Today!  :)

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."  I Corinthians 13:4-7

We all LOVE Trey!  It's easy!  He's cute!  He's charming!  He's adorable!  (Have you seen his latest photo in the leaves!?!)  :)
We LOVE him so much we are willing to carry his burdens before the Lord and pray for him.
We LOVE Trey and so we think of him, we yearn for updates about him, we think about him all the time.
And yet God LOVES Trey even more than we do!!!
So as we pray for Trey this week, yes, we pray for God to completely heal Trey from cancer!
And for successful chemo cocktails!
And for a clearing up of his cold!
And for God's peace that passes understanding for Joe and Bella and Jay and Rachel - and Trey, too!

But in light of our passage of scripture for today, on behalf of Trey, will you try and apply these truths to those around you?
Not just those who are easy to love...(Luke 6:27-36) but even those who you may consider your enemies, or those who are obnoxious,
or irritating, or impossible!  When you think of Trey, yes, pray for him...and then love one another!

"By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:35
