Trey Tuesday - March 20, 2012

TRUST

Who or what do you trust?

Specifically speaking, I mean...

Ipods and Facebook and Twitter are all pretty trustworthy!
Dr. Oz sure has some great health info - He is trustworthy!
Dave Ramsey has some awesome financial wisdom - He is trustworthy!
Pastors Doug and Tim correctly (and wonderfully!) handle the Truth - They are trustworthy!
National Enquirer and The Weather Channel....hmmmm.....I better stop here! :)

Let's look at trust a different way...

Fit bodies and slim waistlines look to trust a scale and a tape measure...
Fancy shoes and clothes all depend upon trusting a trendy whirlwind...
Indulgent foods and addictive substances are trustworthy at the moment, but leave devastating consequences...

And what happens when comfort and peace are missing?

Are our relationships trustworthy?
Is our economy trustworthy?
Are we guaranteed good health?

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
   whose confidence is in Him."
Jeremiah 17:7


Praise God for His unending, never changing, Rock solid promises - forever and ever trustworthy!

Jay challenged us in a recent post.  He writes: The best thing you can do to honor Trey and our struggles is continue to ask God what does He want from you?

So....what DOES God want from you?
As you pray for Trey this week, please pray that God continues his amazing health and strength!
Please continue to pray for Trey to be healed from his cancer!
Please also pray for Jay and Rachel to know how and what to choose for Trey's next treatment!
And please release whatever substitute you are trusting and genuinely ask God:
What do you want from me?

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart
   and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
   and He will make your paths straight.

Trey Tuesday - March 13, 2012

What are you going to do about it?

In the Bible God uses the elements around His people to bring them closer to Him.
Today let's look at how a familiar passage unfolds:

"One day Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, He fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger."


Doesn't sound good, does it?  God is brewing up a storm and the disciples cannot, dare not, deny it!

Do you have any storms brewing in your health?
Dark clouds forming in your finances?
Barometric pressures dropping in your relationships?
Plenty of precipitation with your children and coworkers?
What are you going to do about it?!?


"The disciples went and woke Jesus, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”  He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” He asked His disciples.  In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him.” Luke 8:22-25

God calls a storm a storm.  It's coming.  Face it.
Most importantly, face Him.
“Where is your faith?”

Trey's cancer has thrown all of us into a devastating storm.
What are we going to do about it?
Just like the disciples we need to go to Jesus and call on the Master!
And all will be calm!

This week Trey and Jay and Rachel are facing a new chapter in Trey's treatment plan.
Please pray that Dr. Shaw is preparing an excellent plan for Trey! 
Please pray that Jay and Rachel are able to discern their choices with Godly wisdom!
Please pray that Trey continues to dance, to sing, to play, to eat, to sleep, to laugh, and to love giving testimony to God's power!
And please pray that our Young Warrior and his journey bring many to faith in Christ!  :)

Trey Tuesday - March 6, 2012

A wish or a prayer?

What do you wish for?

What do you pray for?
Are they one and the same?
Which one do you do more?
We all wish for Trey to be completely healed of his cancer!
Here is something to think about, though....When you wish, who/what is the object of your wish come true?
I don't want to upset you, but there is no special birthday fairy that makes all your wishes come true!
So....what's a wish going to get you?

"If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?"
James 2:16

Sort of sounds like a wish just isn't enough, doesn't it?
God has a bigger, better, higher, MUCH more powerful tool and gift for us!
PRAYER!  :)

"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father..."
Colossians 1:9-12


Now....we all pray for God to watch over Trey...He does!

We pray for God to heal Trey...one day He will!
We pray for God to sustain Jay and Rachel...He does!
Thank you for your prayers!
And thank you for your week long prayers for a refreshing trip to Disney World!  God heard, answered and blessed the Mitlos!  :)
Please continue to lift up our Young Warrior - asking God to strengthen Trey with all His power according to His glorious might as Trey has a CT Scan tomorrow!
Please pray for Trey's kidney to withstand the prep and procedure and recovery!  And for results to show less cancer!  :)
Please pray for God to fill Jay and Rachel with the knowledge of His will in all matters - large and small and Trey and Joe and Bella and health and school and church, etc.
And please pray for yourselves, Team Mitlo One, that you may please the Lord, bear fruit in every good work, grow in the knowledge of God....joyfully giving thanks to the Father!

What's a cleft anyway? 

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee

The old hymn brings us comfort, yet why?
What's a cleft anyway?

Let's look to the Source: Exodus 33:21-22
"Then the LORD said to Moses, “There is a place near Me where you may
stand on a rock. When My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover
you with My hand until I have passed by."

God was actually hiding Moses in a crevice, a split in the rock while the face of God passed by.
The cleft protected Moses, it was the hiding place God gave to Moses.
Have you ever felt like you needed a hiding place?
Somewhere where you could forget the daily grind, kick back, watch Disney Jr. Live, have your picture taken with Handy Manny, shriek at the sight of Cinderella's castle, eat pizza and ice cream anytime of day...for free!?!?!?

Praise God He is hiding Trey and his family in His cleft all the time - but especially this week in Disney World on Trey's Make A Wish trip!

Please continue your fervent prayers for health and safety and peace and joy - they are working!  :)
Joe even had his picture taken with a character today!
God CAN do anything!  :)

And please continue to pray for Trey to be healed of his cancer!

We thank God for the cleft of Team Mitlo One - hiding, supporting, uplifting the Mitlo family in Trey's journey!

Fat Tuesday!

Well, here we are again!  Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras....the day before Lent begins.
Catholic or not, Lent is a time to get our hearts and our lives ready to celebrate Easter/Resurrection Sunday.
So...in essence Fat Tuesday is a time to get ready to get ready for Easter!
Sort of like preschool is a time to get ready for Kindergarten which in turn gets your child ready for elementary school!
How much of your day is spent getting ready to get ready for school or work?

We all know the Bible verse about not worrying about tomorrow....so why all the fuss of readiness?
A quick Bible search shows over 100 results for "Get Ready!"
"Get ready a detachment of two hundred soldiers"  Acts 23:23
"Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?" I Corinthians 14:8
"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows."  Luke 12:47
"They rose about daybreak and Samuel called to Saul on the roof, "Get ready, and I will send you on your way." I Samuel 9:26
"Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house."  Proverbs 24:27
"And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him"  Luke 9:52

God is
actually very serious about getting ready!

Trey and his family are getting ready to get ready for Trey's Make a Wish trip to Disney World next week!
Please cover them with your prayers as the next few days will pass quickly with many things to do!
First on the list is to get Trey's stomach settled!  Please pray for effective meds, hydrating liquids and peaceful recovery.
Please continue to pray for Trey's complete healing!
And please pray for Joe and Bella and their nervousness and excitement as they get ready to fly to Florida for a week of amazing fun!
And please pray for Jay and Rachel...so much on their plate...they simply deal with one part of the day at a time...
not even getting ready to get ready...just dealing with right here right now....maybe that is a good lesson for all of us!

Thanks be to God for His faithfulness throughout every day!
Praise and honor to Him who provides all that we need - even before we know it!

Trey Tuesday - February 14, 2012

God started it!  :)

God sent the very first Valentine:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

How do you show love this Valentine's Day?
Something sweet?
Something thoughtful?
Something beautiful?
Something precious?
A large package?
A tiny package?
A surprise?
Or a tradition?

However you wrap up your love, you sacrifice something for the sake of that special someone.
You are continuing the example God gave us in that very first Valentine!  :)
We thank you for taking time this Valentine's Day (and everyday!) to pray for Trey and his family!

Please pray for:
God's comforting Spirit to dwell in each of them as they prepare for their Make a Wish trip!
God's miraculous healing hand upon Trey - to destroy the cancer in his little body!
Joe and Bella to be comforted and encouraged by a strong community of family, friends and school!
The deep, deep love of God to be a sweet aroma to all those in contact with Trey and his family!

And this Trey Tuesday, we send a Valentine to you, Team Mitlo One!
"I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,

Trey Tuesday - February 7, 2012

Eli Manning's going to Disney World!

Trey Mitlo's going to Disney World!

I must admit...the irony of the two extremes leaves me feeling a bit jealous and angry.
Eli Manning's Super Bowl win vs. Trey's cancer. 
Different "Game."
Same prize.
For now.

Thank Almighty God, All Powerful King of the Universe that He does not measure our worth based on our accomplishments!
Praise God that the prize of Heaven far outweighs our earthly battles.
Trust and have faith in believing that God's Ways are higher than our ways
and His thoughts are better than our thoughts.  Isaiah 55:9
The immeasurable, vast enormity of God's plan overshadows our miniscule concept of Trey's life.
Yet, the temptation still remains to be afraid and to dwell upon the injustice.

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will."  Romans 12:2

And there we can find rest.
Ignoring the clamor of the world and our prideful whining for an easy and comfortable life for everyone....
Renewing our minds again and again remembering God's faithfulness in and through and because of Trey's journey...
Seeking God's will, accepting God's will, trusting God's will....
and knowing His will is good, pleasing and perfect...
on earth as it is in Heaven....
and in Disney World.
Amen.
